GALA 2021 Conference is going to take place on 1-3 December 2021 in La Spezia, Italy.
La Spezia sits at the south-eastern tip of Liguria, close to the Tuscan border. La Spezia area is famous for its stunning coastal scenery. The Gulf of La Spezia is also known as the Gulf of Poets as its beuty has attracted along the centuries artists and poets such as Byron, Shelley, Dante, DH Lawrence and George Sand.
With ongoing uncertainty around COVID-19, the conference organising commitee will continuously monitor the evolution of the pandemic all around the world. The conference program and format will be adapted to deliver the best experience possible and ensure a safe partecipation – whether in-person, virtual, or hybrid.
At the southernmost tip of the Gulf of La Spezia there are two very picturesque coastal towns. Lerici is a popular and exclusive holiday spot, which houses the magnificent St. George’s castle. At the other end of the small bay there is the small town of San Terenzo.
To the western end of the Gulf of La Spezia lies Portovenere, a beautiful and historic fortified village included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The main attraction of the typical Ligurian town is the Church of San Pietro. Portovenere is the antechamber of the Cinque Terre. These five spectacular fishing villages (Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso) are recognised as some of Italy’s most extraordinary countryside and are included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
