Games and Learning Alliance conference

The Games and Learning Alliance conference (GALA 2019) is an international conference dedicated to the science and application of serious games.

The conference aims at bringing together researchers, developers, practitioners and stakeholders. The goal is to share the state of the art of research and market, analysing the most significant trends and discussing visions on the future of serious games.

The conference also includes an exhibition, where developers can showcase their latest products.

The conference is organized by the Serious Games Society, that is building a scientific community at international level for shaping future research in the field. This community represents a significant blend of industrial and academic professionals committed to the study, development and deployment of serious games as really useful and effective tools to support better teaching, learning, training and assessment.

The GALA Conference 2019 Proceedings will be published on Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) and the best papers in a special issue of the Int.l Journal of Serious Games, as the previous years.

    • The venues are currently being finalized, but will be in the center of Athens (around the Syntagma or Academia squares). The fees are also not final yet, but are expected to be similar to last year’s (around 500 Euro for full registration and 400 for student registration, broadly). Please be aware that all details will be decided and announced later so there may be changes from the current estimates.

    • Hi Matilda, it should not be an issue to send a paper shorter than 10 pages. Papers on work-in-progress projects are welcome, although there should be enough progress there to warrant a discussion and convey the end-goal. Note that work-in-progress papers will be evaluated alongside other papers as there isn’t a special track for them.

    • Hi Mauro,

Figures should be embedded in the PDF, and count for the maximum page length.

No supplementary materials are allowed, except if they are provided as links within the paper itself (e.g. a github link with the code, or a google drive link with viewing access for the dataset, etc.). If such links are provided, they are assumed to also be a part of the actual public version of the paper, not only for the purposes of the review.
