The European Serious Games Competition aims to celebrate the best digital games for learning in Europe.
Organized by the Games and Learning Alliance as a friendly game contest, the awards are based on an analysis of the games by selected experts of the Serious Games.
This year, the European Serious Games Competition will reward Serious Games that have had a strong impact on people’s lives, on society in general or on the environment.
Following the recent academic debate on how games can have a positive effect, we are looking for projects that can influence people’s ideas, behavior, and even people’s long-term intentions. We define the concept of impact as the equation between effectiveness, relevance and sustainability of a game that addresses important issues.
Submissions are due by September 20th, 2019
The competition will reward 3 games in each of the following categories:
- Academy: Serious Games that have been designed and produced in a scientific environment
- Business: Serious Games that have been designed and produced by a professional game studio
The winners will be invited to present their Serious Games at the GALA Exhibition at Athens.
This year’s Gala Exhibition will take place at INNOVATHENS powered by Samsung, in a pop-industrial area of Athens, on the 28th of November 2019. This important event will be covered by the media and will be open to the general public, including the researchers and companies present at the GALA conference.
The jury is composed of established Serious Game designers and researchers.
